Inclusion of Iraq in the 2024 Regional Index on Violence Against Women and Girls


As part of the project "Towards Strengthening Laws and Public Policies to Combat Violence Against Women by Including Iraq in the 2024 Regional Index on Violence Against Women," implemented by the Women for Peace Network in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Organization, the Regional Observatory on Violence Against Women and Girls, and supported by the Euro-Mediterranean Feminist Initiative and the French Embassy, an experts' meeting – Iraq was held regarding the inclusion of Iraq in the 2024 Regional Index on Violence Against Women and Girls. The meeting was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Iraq and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Department of the Presidency of of Iraq. During the meeting, the 49 indicators were presented by researchers from the Federal Government and Kurdistan Region Government to a group of experts from various governmental and non-governmental bodies, including the Ministries of Health, Education, and Planning, on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Baghdad Palace.
